Many Polish people are arriving to the UK with the promise of work by unscrupulous
so-called Employment Agents. Often met directly at the train station or airport,
Poles are handing over large amounts of cash for accommodation and work but
being left with nothing more than a useless phone number and an empty promise.
One of these dishonest agents is actually Polish herself. We have had many
victims of this scam coming to our club for help, often having slept rough
on the streets for days and without any money. Sadly, we are not in any position
to help other than to give this warning and the following advice.
Honest agents will NOT
ASK FOR MONEY UPFRONT. Do not part with any cash.
Arrange accommodation BEFORE YOU LEAVE POLAND.
There are good employment opportunities but deal directly with proper agents
